Bringing contactless payments to fundraising events

Donating money at BHF fundraising events will soon be easier than ever thanks to new contactless payment machines.

The BHF's Fundraising team now have ten contactless payment machines to be used in a pilot. Whether it's an race, bike ride or community activity like a bake sale, BHF fundraiser's can book out the machines in advance for your fundraising events up and down the country.
As part of the Fundraising Innovation team, Steph Collins and Kate Wilderspin are looking for teams to test the devices to gain as much insight as possible. They can then offer feedback on potential audiences, signage, locations and sterling amounts from the pilot.
"We'll be running a pilot of these devices and we'd like to hear ideas from teams that are planning to use them at events." Senior Innovation Executive, Steph Collins
"We will first be trialling the use of £2, £5 and £10 payments on the devices but the amounts can change depending on the need of the event. They even work offline, however you need to have a signal to download the information at the end of the event."
The trial is part of the BHF's ongoing stream of activity to embrace technology to make fundraising as easy as possible for our people and our supporters alike.
It will run until August, after which the Innovation team will take the feedback of all users on board to assess learnings and iterate as needed.
