Bristol City Council: Identity Redesign

  • Annelise Nelson
Personal Brief
Create a new identity for Bristol City Council to be rolled out across all aspects of the city's official collateral.

Background
Bristol is a vibrant city with a very strong sense of community. It is considered the capital of the UK's south west and has enjoyed healthy economic growth in recent times. The population come in all shapes and sizes, ages and colours, but there is a sense of vibrance and energy that comes from the large student and young professional demographic. Residents are young at heart, friendly and proud of their city and all it's quirks!

Concept
The most successful city identities are simple, flexible and relate to the local population. If the locals don't buy into it, it will never be a success. So, I really wanted to get into a Bristolian's head. What do they love about their city? What is it like to live there? Where are their favourite places to go? The brandmark concept came from a map of some of Bristol's local highlights. The points in the map are then joined together with bright vibrant lines to represent the people that make the city the destination that it is! Yay!
