The British Council occupies 80,000 sq. ft. on 6 floors of the British Consulate building, designed by Terry Farrell & Ptnrs. for the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
The building houses a gallery / exhibition hall, an information centre, 32 classroom Teaching Centre, offices & ancillary facilities for 200 staff.
I was responsible for the original, 1997 interior design scheme whilst working‘in-house’.
In 2002 I was commissioned to undertake a feasibility study and concept design for additional conference / information facilities along with a new centre for teaching young children. My planning scheme & concept design was then implemented by D&B Co. M. Moser. Assoc.
“The new building has created tremendous opportunities for us to deliver our services far more effectively and to a much higher standard. In itself it is a great advert for the best of contemporary Britain.”
