CAVERNA DE BALL was my final project of my third year studying Architecture.
B R I E F:
This project will use the contextual, spatial and social characteristics of the marketplace typology as a catalyst, adopting principles of the ‘slow’ movement to celebrate the art of crafting and realise the architectural programme and design for a new civic hub in Barcelona.
M Y R E S P O N S E:
Dance is an unspoken language that connects and unites people together. It is the burst of energy that creates moving art for everyone to experience. Caverna de Ball is an underground dance performance space that has captured the energy in Barcelona and contained it in one space. It is in the centre of local dance studios around Barcelona so it essentially ties them all together and becomes the heart of dance where people spread release their energy. The barrier between the audience and performers has been removed so everyone is connected through this energy catalyst. Viewpoints of a performance is very important to pick up the details the performers are showcasing therefore the individual stages within Caverna de Ball have been designed so the audience experience watching a performance in a new perspective. The audience become apart of the art they are watching.
