Camden Market E-commerce

  • Emily Yau

For this project (2-week sprint), I wanted to test the viability for an e-commerce site for Camden Market, a market typically known for being a local cultural hub (with an international reach), having an eclectic mix of alternative styles and browsing experiences, and being a place well regarded for social gatherings among locals and tourists alike. Should Camden Market decide to create an online shop, the pivotal markers would be an emphasis on bringing the local and "Camden" experience online, retaining the market's unique personality, widening the reach of its products by enabling users to shop from home, all the while staying true to its heart and increasing community engagement. Deciding to focus on womenswear, I headed off to Camden Market to observe and interview market stall holders and shoppers alike. Then I sketched out some primary low-fidelity wireframes.
From my research, the main challenge I needed to address was how to bridge the gap between the physical market and its online presence. I decided to investigate one of results from my online survey: “I could buy something I’d seen earlier in the day if I change my mind."
I took inspiration from Google’s reverse image search function and brainstormed how you might locate something online that you’d seen earlier in the day.
