Carnival Cutout Workshop

  • Hayley Chan
Whilst working as Designer at The Big Draw, I inititated a collaboration between our graduate collective LUFALO, from Loughborough University, and The Big Draw at the London Illustration Fair in Hoxton Arches. We added our illustrated prints to The Big Draw stall, and ran a live workshop.

We created a life sized carnival cut-out chalkboard and invited people to draw and be photographed with their artistic creations.

The idea was to break down the barriers to drawing. People often mistakenly believe they are not good at drawing, so avoid doing it at all. The goal was to encourage drawing in an easygoing and playful way, which was great fun for participants and also promoted The Big Draw's mission.

Following the event, I held sole responsibility of the set-up, production and coordination of this workshop at several more events for The Big Draw; including The Big Draw Festival launch at the V&A Museum of Childhood and the Affordable Art Fair 2014 in Battersea.
