Castle on the Horizon

  • George R. Powell

Set during the Great Depression of the late 1920s, "Castle on the Horizon" tells the surreal tale of despondent father, Truett O'Hare, who had recently lost his wife to an illness that their young daughter, Charlotte, is had also contracted. With the dwindling economy and declining health of his daughter, Truett makes one last effort to bring hope and comfort to Charlotte by having her assist him in writing an adventure story together: about a little princess who was stranded far from her home - the Castle on the Horizon - aided by her protector, the brave Lord Asche, who fought to safely bring her home and fend off the Shadowlings. Things take a turn for the bizarre when the story begins to actually start taking over their reality, with shadow creatures pursuing Charlotte and the entrance of the fictional protector. The unlikely trio traverse an ever-changing reality to bring Charlotte to the story's destination...not knowing the true, profound power that has driven the events of the story and calling Charlotte to her place of "Hope"... As of this writing, the first draft of the screenplay is complete.
