Creative competitions can be a hugely valuable platform for both businesses and individuals alike as they offer exposure, industry recognition, potential acclaim, constructive feedback, plus insights into the work and process of other peers too.
On top of the validation that well received submissions provide, preparing the entries themselves is often a beneficial - albeit time consuming - exercise as it demands a degree of self-reflection on your projects and forces you to identify and articulate the thinking that went into them.
This is a great practice for honing pitching skills in general.
Winning competition awards is undoubtedly helpful in attracting clients too. Despite its slight smugness, the title ‘award-winning designer’ does have a nice ring to it!
