Chido Mexican Kitchen

  • Craig Black
Highly experienced and well-travelled chef, John Derrick, has a passion for the food found in Mexico’s colourful market places. As a way of introducing this vibrant and interesting culture to the West of Scotland, John decided to create a Mexican restaurant to showcase the authentic dishes he had created.

I was appointed to create a brand that avoided the usual tired clichés commonly associated with modern Mexican restaurants. A brand that would combine high quality with authenticity, that had flare and yet was playful. Chido Mexican Kitchen translates to ‘Cool Mexican Kitchen’ which helps convey the required tone of the brand. As well as developing the branding through print work, I was also responsible for the creation of the modern interior and exterior elements of the building which included hand-painted murals to reflect the brands commitment to authenticity.
