Choreographies of uses - range of sauce pourers

Without movement, there is no use.

Designing an object whether physical or digital, the designer indirectly recommends a movement to users. We can think about simple and daily actions as uncork a bottle, turn on a light switch, enlarge an image on a smartphone, or typing on a keyboard. Nevertheless, if gesture has a rich sensible and expressive potential, it is rarely a point on which the designer focuses.

I explored a methodology which would start from spontaneous gesture choreography observation to imagine uses, and then design objects shapes. This methodology is based on workshops in which dancers explore movements. They improvise with volumes and various shapes according to a body of constraints based on a choreographic notation system : the Labanotation.

From dancers’ gesture analysis, I imagine possible uses catalogues, and then develop three of them to design objects. Here, a range of sauce pourers wich pours liquid when the user gently destabilizes it with his fingertip according to the strength applied
