City Frames

  • Stella Cattani
The current situation of the city of l’Aquila, after the earthquake (2009) and the safety issues related to the buildings in the historic center, are the starting points for the development of this urban widespread event. The structures and the projection of selected videos can involve the abandoned public spaces, in order to revitalize the city. The videos are enjoyed through different micro-spaces that allow the users to peek at the forsaken buildings. The structures represent three progressive steps in the deepening of the connection between indoor and outdoor. The frames are composed by transparent and reflective surfaces, supported by some steel, white-painted profiles. Their aims is to obtain a detachment within the context through the review of some elements used for the measures taken to reinforce the buildings.
