I began this illustration because of the troubles we had with the office coffee machine. Most people were unsure of how to use it properly or forgot to clean or empty/fill parts of the machine to keep in working properly. The solution was to create a simple set of illustrations that I could then use to create a 'How to' poster to put next to the office coffee machine.
I created a mixture of illustrations that I think would be helpful to illustrate tasks that would need to be completed such as the 'Empty me' tray that no one ever empties or the steam nozzle that no one ever wipes clean after using.
I went for a very clean and simple approach, 4 shades of grey, one shade of brown, one shade of pink to highlight and white. This is useful because if need be I could easily change the colour scheme for the poster or for whatever else I use them for in the future.
