Corinna Keefe

He'd never seen anything as beautiful as the sailors: their caps were as white as the first wave on an untouched beach. Their jackets were darker blue than his. He wondered if that came with age. The boys were as tall as ships' masts to him, tall pillars of serious dark-and-white adventure surrounded by carnival colours and smoke. They disappeared as fast as the carnival came. Navy blue would never feel quite the same.
