COVER LETTER

Dear Sir/Madam,
Re: Young Graduate Position
I am writing to you to discuss potential openings at your company’s London offices for a motivated and talented junior professional. As one of only four students graduating with a First Class Honours Degree in Marketing and Management from the University of Sussex (UK), I went on to complete a Masters Degree in International Business at Maastricht University (The Netherlands). I am now excited at the prospect of continuing my professional career by becoming part of a company with a high reputation for design and creativity.
I believe that I would be a great asset to your company's team due to my strong educational background and extensive marketing, events, and retail experience. This has ranged from working in retail logistics and merchandising for the international brand Abercrombie and Fitch in Belgium to being selected by my University to work as a marketing strategy consultant for Small and Medium Enterprises in the UK. Additionally, I have worked for several organisations in the event and Horeca industries, namely the Atelier Yves Mattagne, the Royal Museums of Fine Arts Belgium, and the Longines Masters in Paris.
On my own initiative I have gained valuable skills in project and event management by working independently as an event organizer and professional DJ in Brussels. In 2015, I launched Donuts, an electronic music concept, which initially began in nightlife but has since grown into monthly large-scale events known both locally and nationally. Over the past two years, Donuts has worked with Atmosphere Architects, Knokke Out Group, Live Nation, Mirano Continental, Sharingbox, Summerfestival Antwerp, and The Villa Antwerp, and has invited artists such as AlunaGeorge, Gorgon City, Jax Jones, Kungs, and Lost Frequencies. It continues to gain recognition from institutions such as Red Bull Elektropedia, who often feature it as one of their top events of the week, and Bruzz Radio who asked me to tell my story live on air. Today, Donuts has a monthly residency at one of the capitals most notable event spaces, Bloody Louis.
I have looked to develop my entrepreneurial skills over the past years selecting the Entrepreneurship and SME Management track for my Masters degree and completing a ten-week Entrepreneurship Course in the UK where I consolidated my commercial and financial skills whilst building upon my own business ideas. I thrive on being innovative and have a strong entrepreneurial spirit. I enjoy working both independently and as part of a team. In 2016, I provided consulting services to the Brussels-based advertising agency AirB2B and primarily assisted the team with market research into international companies.
My own interest in a career with an international aspect first developed when my family relocated from the U.K. to Belgium when I was 11. Rather than continuing my studies in English, I opted to attend a predominantly French speaking school in order to learn a new language. Although I was aware that this would be a major challenge, I studied multiple subjects in French between 2005 and 2011 and am now bilingual, both in writing and orally. I have proactively sought to increase my language repertoire and have just completed a one year course in Mandarin and am now learning Dutch.
The relocation to Belgium and my decision to embrace other cultures through studying in several countries also produced other benefits. Not only have I come to appreciate the varied multicultural environment in Belgium, but have been able to experience a variety of working environments in another culture gaining strong business and global acumen as well as technical capabilities. I am now comfortable working and interacting with people from all over the world. I believe this will help me fit in well within an international environment.
My initiative, creative drive and unique perspective would, I hope, contribute to your company’s future. There are many reasons why I consider I could offer much to your company for example:
· I am very familiar with the services that *** offers its clients and have a thorough understanding of digital marketing, branding, and CRM.
· A position within your company would enable me to put theory into practice and share the knowledge gained in other international workplace settings, both in Brussels and the UK, with others in the business.
· Marketing communications and advertising are the areas where I feel my skill set lie as they require a high degree of people skills and creativity. Through my work as art director for Donuts, not only did I independently develop social media campaigns and PR strategies, but I also generated the promotional content myself owing to my broad knowledge of Adobe CS6.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Yours faithfully,
Cameron Heal
