Craft - New Narratives

  • Nayanika Bharadwaj

My final Master’s Project is a practice-based inquiry aimed at exploring the role of craft and its links with the concepts of activism and innovation within the larger spectrum of fashion and design sustainability. The different notional meanings attached to activism and innovation are explored, as well as their interconnectivity and links to the narrative, storytelling values that are embodied in craft. I interviewed 6 people working with craft in academia, communications and strategy and created an illustrated zine, textile artefact and an Augmented Reality mobile app, along with a 10,000-word thesis. The project was awarded an A- grade. Read the full zine at: https://issuu.com/nayanika_bharadwaj
