Crossing Over - A Short Film

A run-down farm in the middle of nowhere, hidden in the British countryside, overgrown and neglected, being slowly reclaimed by nature. Smoke rises from scorched fields, bringing with it ghosts, memories and… two men, repeating a journey they have made many times before. The men meet in this isolated place as they have for years, to exchange information, interrogate, search for the truth; foot soldiers in a never-ending war. Past and present overlap as they repeat the rituals of friendship; sharing a joke, a drink, recollections and hopes for the future. But beneath their friendly words lies the truth of a violent past and the dark shadow of betrayal. Today these men meet for the very last time. It is time to decide once and for all where their loyalties truly lie.

Co-directed by myself and Martin Hutchings, creating this short film involved running a Kickstarter campaign raising a budget of £1750.00. From this point onwards, I was involved in every aspect of production from location scouting to camera operation. Working with professional actors Finbar Lynch and David Sterne was a great experience and I learnt a huge amount along the way.
