CUT IT OUT! campaign

  • Maurizio Piacenza
Epilepsy? Cut it out! is a campaign & fundraiser launched to spread awareness about epilepsy and surgery for epilepsy. And to support the Claudio Munari Surgery Center for Epilepsy based in Milan, Italy.
The second Monday of February is the International Epilepsy Day in more than 120 countries. And purple is the official colour for that day, also known as Purple Day in fact. So I designed some t-shirts using the original logo from the campaign Epilessia? Diamoci un taglio! (Epilepsy? Cut it out!) that we launched 3 years ago.
Why a t-shirt with no explicit references to the campaign? I want to support the Claudio Munari center but also design t-shirts & sweatshirts that people really want to wear. So I decided to use only the original symbol of the campaign. It conveys a profound meaning per se, since it represents a neural network with abnormal activities on the left side, and a normal neural network on the right side, separated by a cut: the surgery. And purple if the official colour of the International Epilepsy Day.
All proceeds from the sale of t-shirts go to A.I.M.E. onlus that will use them for the Claudio Munari center.
