Cutlery

  • Melissa Edwards

Whilst holidaying in Cyprus, I was inspired by two images of cutlery I saw hanging on the wall of fine dining restaurant; Sage, located in the Ayia Napa district. I was so inspired I decided to base my final year A-level Fine Art project on this topic. Once back home, I began my research and found artists whose work I particularly liked. This included German Artist Klaus Boekhoff whose work I discovered on redbubble.com; as well as English artists Natalie Kinnear and Sandra Moore. In July 2012, my final outcome (shown below) featuring pencil drawings, pastels and acrylic paints; was selected to be exhibited at the National Students' exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London. This remains one of my greatest achievements to date.
