Dance of the Riso

ダンス OF THE RISO Risograph is a high-speed digital printing system designed mainly for high-volume photocopying and printing. In celebration of it’s 30th ANNIVERSARY after being released in Japan in August 1986; a collection of Risograph studios from around the globe have submitted a recording of their machine. The recordings have been mixed and duplicated onto cassettes emulating a similar process to which the Risograph works; with the original image file sent to the machine and burnt onto a master. The master is then wrapped around a print drum and then rotates at high speed pushing the ink through the screen and onto the paper as it is sent through. The Risograph is an environmentally friendly and cost effective printer, which uses soy-based inks to produce unique outcome.
