Day of the Dead Exhibition

  • Imogen Harvey-Lewis

A fresh collaborative exhibition of graphic illustrations, lyrics and live music. Drawing from the heart, singing from the soul, writing the world, Day Of The Dead is a box-fresh creation from renowned artist and illustrator Imogen Harvey-Lewis, and poet singer-song writer Alun Hughes, lyricist with the band Lensmen. A new dynamic duo on the arts scene, these two share a consuming passion for their creative process, finding a common ground in life and death. Imogen’s graphic art is a true and honest blend of line and emotion; capturing a moment and redefining it with simplicity and creative integrity. Lensmen are an extraordinary Stroud based quintet. Their dark and atmospheric explorations of the passions draw influences from post punk psychedelia. They have been likened to Bauhaus and XX, from Joy Division to Nick Cave. Blown away by a Lensmen gig earlier this year, Imogen found herself transported back to her teenage kicks, whilst empowered and inspired by the strength and guttural elegance of both their music and lyrics. Enough to put pen to paper and visualize a response. These are not word for word illustrations, but a haunting melody of drawings, lyrics, poetry and music about honesty, death, empowerment and pleasure. It is real life death stuff.
