I’m Marysa Ciach, and I started Germ to create fashion that breaks the mold, fusing found fabrics and objects into clothes with attitude and edge. It all began when I started reworking my own clothes that didn’t fit me or that I got bored of. Instead of getting rid of them, I’d make them up or use the fabric to create something new. From there, I began experimenting with textures, shapes, and unexpected details—especially anything silver or round—that catch my eye and inspire me. I hunt down vintage and charity shop pieces, then transform them using different techniques, from embroidery to jewelry making, to create something raw and original. This new project is a collection of garments inspired greatly by jewellery seen at fashion shows from the 80s and 90s. The first thing I made is a headpiece made from silver metal washers I found in my uncles workshop after his passing. A little tribute to engineers and workmen. Another is a red leather jacket found in a vintage market embellished with gunmetal eyelets on the front and around the sleeves. Sexy but cutting edge empowering at the same time. And the latest I made, a silk top with hooks and eyes making a cross on the chest, with sleeves cut at the front of the body. Germ isn’t just a brand; it’s a movement that pushes boundaries, flips the familiar, and turns the streets into a stage.
