Decolonise Everything Billboard for Black Outdoor Art

I created this artwork as part of Black History Month in the UK in 2020 and had the opportunity to have it showcased as part of the Black Outdoor Art project, initiated by graphic designer Greg Bunbury and facilitated by media company Brotherhood Media. With this artwork, I wanted to showcase how important it is that we proactively work towards decolonising every aspect of society as part of the fight against racism. Despite colonisation being officially over, the colonialist mindset that still prevails in the West is the reason why you don't learn much about Black History in school for instance. Because Black culture is deemed inferior and / or not worthy of being part of (White) History books. By decolonising everything, we ensure all people histories and voices are heard equally. Black Outdoor Art, is a project that showcases art by Black creatives on billboards in London and beyond. The aim of the project is to keep the conversation going on topics such as racism and social justice.
