The concept of the logo for the rebrand is that the 5 sides of the pentagon represent a different area of design that the museum showcases:
Graphic, Architecture, Product, Industrial and Fashion.
The logo is generic with two parts until the third tier is added, this is filled with content relevant to the subject. The diversity of the logo represents the diversity of the Design Museum.
