Once upon a time I created a degree show titled Lexicon Creatures; a collection of five narratives transformed into three-dimensional, wearable creations.
My name is Chloe Henderson and I am a fangirl; nothing gives me more joy than falling in love with new fictions, and being able to construct these fantasies with my hands is glorious. I want to promote the value of being a fan, of loving something so much that you want to embellish your body with handmade dedications to your fandom, and prove your love to the world.
I conquer my story obsessions by making something from them with my hands.
Stories are my life; my mind is full of songs and novels and poems and fanfictions and tales of curiosities and lore and faerytales and movies and folktales and all the glorious excerpts in-between. I’m a lover of the fantastical and magical, of the eccentric and the bizarre, and most of all I love the clever ones and the unexpected surprises. This is what I want to capture and let loose upon my work.
My degree show work examines five of my favourite narratives. Using a wide variety of unusual materials and techniques, I create my 3-dimensional, wearable representations of these tales. Each piece is displayed with a handmade book (please pick up these books and read through them), which tells the story of the story, as well as the conception of the work, to the viewer.
And they all lived happily ever after…
