Dress to Protest: The dirty secret hiding in your wardrobe

Extracts from an article I wrote for Diss. inspired by a talk with the owner of ethical clothing blog Dress to Protest.
"For all the hours we spend searching for that perfect piece of clothing, how many of those go on thinking about where these clothes came from? Whilst we’re busy looking for the cheapest, fastest fashion fix, we’re detaching ourselves from the process. But if you stop to think about it, something doesn’t add up; your new going out top has been sown, grown, harvested, combed, spun, knitted, cut, stitched, finished, printed, labelled, packaged and transported , yet it costs less than the jagerbomb you drink whilst wearing it."
"Fashion has the power to affect the way we think and behave; it says a lot about us and helps to create the identity that we present to the world. Dressing to impress and dressing to protest are certainly not mutually exclusive, so why not choose ethical fashion?"
