Drift, 2015

The pure curves of One Strand inspired 'Drift'; a series 8 fibreglass pebbles. Set in an organic configuration, they form clusters of relaxation and informal meeting spaces.  Embracing the inherent lines of the building, the pebbles appear as if brought in by a current, a drift. The installation brings the outside in. Enhanced by the reflective polished concrete flooring it lies on, Drift forms a both peaceful and unexpected indoor landscape.
The installation welcomes newcomers and employees to come in and relax, meet, or simply wait. It is designed to accommodate a solo relaxed period just as well as a 6 person meeting. The essential features of pebbles shapes invites intuitive behaviour from its users. It encourages them to not only use them as classic seats or tables, but rather as their own piece landscape, where they can lie/sit crossed-legged/look at the sky...
Not obtrusive to the building's circulation flow, Drift highlights the natural lines of the building. From the higher levels of the building one may get on overview of the building with the pebbles clusters at its heart.
Each pebble is made of 2 parts fibreglass shells. Those are assembled and filled with expending foam to ensure the right weight, feel and stability. Finally each pebble is sprayed in different resins to achieve 3 different tones of stone finishes.
