Inspired by my Grandfather’s paintings and photographs of the East African coast, my project aims to recreate the unspoiled landscape, plant and animal life that he first witnessed in 1937 and which convinced him to stay for the rest of his life.
Intended as a Spring/Summer interior collection, I have used bold colour and a range of design scales to help to draw the viewer into an exotic paradise. My collection explores a variety of fabric applications to create texture and for different uses within the home. Both expressive and pictorial painting techniques have been used, which I hope will illustrate the striking nature of this part of the world.
