Elephant

  • Conrad James
The elephant is a symbol that represents young people who have had to deal with cancer in any way shape or form. I have found through my own experiences and research that young adults between the ages of 16-24 get grouped into either the children’s category or the adult’s category. Which i find desensitizes their situation by generalizing the information across a broader age group.
I don’t believe this is done intentionally by current charities and corporations. I believe it is difficult to categorize such an unpredictable and diverse time period where everybody develops at different rates.
Making the transition from adolescence to adulthood is a hard enough process for anyone, without cancer being thrown into the equation. As a young adult who has survived cancer i want to create a brand dedicated to making the journey through the illness easier for 16-24 year olds.
Using the concept of addressing the elephant in the room, the symbol will promote a non censored platform and a freedom to be able to express yourself any way you want, without feeling imposed on by the surrounding environment. It will also strive to relay information in a digestible manner as not to run you down with pages filled with medical research in your time of need.
