In 2023/24, we provided evaluation support and mentoring for Creative Youth’s heritage-funded Arts, Music and Pop Fashion project. Working alongside a diverse heritage team—including researchers, curators, designers, youth producers, and the Heritage Project Manager—we helped assess the impact of this initiative, which explored and activated cultural influences from the 1960s to the 1990s into Kingston Borough. Our evaluation activities included working with Kingston Museum to conduct vox pop exit interviews with visitors to the Bowie and Beyond exhibition. We also coordinated action research at Creative Youth’s ‘Upcycle’ showcase event, which featured creative installations inspired by past decades of art, music, and fashion. Evaluation activity included draw-and-write exercises, a Head-Heart-Bag-Bin reflective exercise, and a video documentary capturing interviews with creative leaders. We worked with the Young People’s Heritage Collective to deliver training, skills development, and capacity-building in project design, production, and evaluation. By equipping young people with practical evaluation tools and techniques, we supported them in capturing learning, measuring impact, and embedding reflective practice into their creative heritage work
