EVERYDAY ACTS

  • Rae Kurs
Everyday Acts is a project that documents the relationship between identity politics and self-presentation, with a particular focus on millennial feminism and the women involved in, and thus shaping, the movement. Born from the artist’s interest in what we can communicate about ourselves and our beliefs through our presentation of style and self, its intent is to use visual language as a tool for creating a positive platform for conversations around womanhood; be that through the clothing of the subjects, the photographic work itself, or the way in which the work is exhibited for an audience. Aesthetically, it borrows conventions from the DIY art and zines that illustrated earlier political movements and manifestos.
