“The Untold Story Behind the Global Phenomenon”
Extra Pleasure follows fans of Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show. Told in their own words, we’ll see how fandom grew from escapist dream, to global collective and driving cultural force.
With a production team celebrated across a range of disciplines, Extra Pleasure approaches fandom as both a study of devotion, and history of the show. Told through the lives inspired by Rocky Horror, Extra Pleasure is the story of the fans who’ve kept it vital for over forty five years. Dori Hartley, a writer and artist in Portland, Oregon, the first fan to cross the divide from enthusiast to collaborator. Actor and writer, Daniel Abineri the first official Frank. Gia’s castmates, David & Stephanie Freeman, retirees in Tunbridge, England – who founded TimeWarp, the UK Rocky Horror fan club. Max Mayhem in Berlin, Germany, leader to the Global All-star fan cast. Paul Oscar, an Icelandic national treasure, and pop icon who shot to fame after a high school production of Rocky Horror, and who now returns to the role that formed him. To capture the breadth of its narrative, Extra Pleasure employs a suite of techniques including: documentary, interview, archive material, and stop-motion animation.
