FACTORY LYRIC BOOK FMP

  • Poppy Barrett

My second outcome is more stylised, a lyric book which contains Factory’s top records, with digitally designed elements. From the Salford slums to the heyday of Acid House. The publication uses impactful grayscale imagery across double page spreads to break up the digital yellow content. It works on contrast, from the unapologetic colour scheme, to the imagery and lyrics used. The publication’s initial grid and layout is based of a 7” single and plays with the element of the central circular form being removed and replaced with mundane/iconic imagery. Use of my hand made “Ian Curtis Type” which was digitally built from extracts of Ian Curtis’s uppercase calligraphy. This publication is a visual celebration of Manchester in the 80s.
