Family Ties was inspired by the Huguenots from 17th century, they suffered severe persecution at the hands of the Catholic majority, and many thousands emigrated from France to England. Due to the current refugee situation I wanted to tell a story of a single mom trying to make a better life for her son. Show the part of a refugee life that media forgets to mention.
