The Flag of United Kingdom has on occasion been suggested as the Affiliation Jack, and the United Kingdom recently used the red, white and blue in 1801. In 1603, James VI of Scotland similarly became Ruler of Britain. Regardless, he continued to include his own flags in two separate states. On April 12, 1606, James VI of Scotland mentioned the union of white and red crosses.
