I worked on the location sound for the next project, a Beer Promo that took place on a farm. There was no dialogue to be recorded but there were very specific animal sounds and soundscapes that I needed to capture on the day, along with live Foley. I recorded the additional Foley on my friend’s farm and at home, to re-create the sound effects portrayed on screen. This entire project was done with my own recorded sounds. The initial mix wasn’t exactly to the taste of the client, because I had mixed it with the sound effects more prominent in the mix. The client requested I bring up the music and take some of the effects out, so I did so and mixed it to their exact specifications. This was a mix for the Internet so I mixed the sound to a -0.5dBFS limit, but I was focused on not smashing the mix to the limit, leaving some dynamic range and just letting the limiter catch some of the sound effects that had a lot of energy.
