Fundraised over £850 living on £1 a day for 6 weeks

Fundraised over £850 for charitable organizations aiding poverty in developing countries. I chose to live off £1 a day for 6 weeks to demonstrate the life long difficulties and restrictions over 80% of the global population survive on, approximately $1.29 a day living below the poverty line. The project was immensely physically and mentally challenging, as at the time, i was working night shifts at Victoria's Secret, a highly demanding and fast paced job. The physical difficulties were encouraged, knowing that 80% of the worlds population living under the poverty line, accounts for around 70% of the physical workforce, mainly in tough, manual, agricultural jobs. Other struggles, such as lack of nutrition sufficient for my lifestyle, faltered in other aspects, emotionally and mentally as initially i wanted to only do the challenge for one week, as advised by a medic, but the more i researched and experienced this way of life, the more motivated and driven i became to experience an accurate representation of a global issue, of which i am immensely passionate about.
Furthermore, i lived and worked in rural Nicaragua for 3 months, lived amongst the culture and learned their ways. With no electricity, running water or home comforts, these experiences developed understanding and awareness of huge, global issues. As studying ethics and corporate social responsibility at university was the forefront and main event through out my final academic year, i concentrated my strengths and knowledge to spread awareness and teach others about issues and subjects exceedingly close to my heart. Gaining a 2:1 through writing, revising and petitioning against these problems, mainly ethical implication and corporate social responsibility, helped me discover a path of which i am truly determined to follow.
