Graduate Collection 'Exhale'

  • Lucy Needs

The collection ‘Exhale’ is about taking a minute, relaxing, and not letting everyday stresses get the better of you. To express the ideas behind ‘Exhale’, the loungewear collection has been created with a focus on well-being, by providing comfort for the wearer through the use of soft silhouettes, soothing textures and calming colours. Throughout the collection the ocean has been the main inspiration, to highlight the positive links between nature and well-being. Varying tones of indigo used alongside a fresh off white/cream tones, contrasted with tie-dye effects, helps to create a soothing, calming aesthetic to the collection. Surface pattern detailing has been created using traditional home-dyeing techniques creating unique results every time. The complimentary colours created through the tie-dye effects, reflect the calming effect nature can have on an individual. The collection embodies new emerging trends of ‘Loungewear’ and the influence celebrity style is having on society, through exploration of the new ‘Stay at home culture’. As well-being can often be taken for granted, the collection has been created with a focus on putting your mental and physical health first, whilst reminding the consumers on the importance of looking after yourself.
