This project explores themes of resourcefulness. Inspired by the Indian value and necessity of re-adapting materials or objects, I have repurposed industrial materials, such as foam, rope and wood, in order to alter their intended use. Through a materials-led approach to design, I have explored the possibilities of each material type.
Inspired by the mundane aspects of Indian cities, from random colours in the street to abstract shapes found in city architecture, I have developed a series of tactile interior products aimed at a design conscious market. The materials can be used by themselves or layered on top of one another to create comfortable seating or textured rugs for the home. The flexible nature of the materials means they can roll up and adapt to a range of different situations.
