Have Mercy

I created this for a competition where we had to exhibit our signature art style. My signature art style is my identity, my state of mind and my self image, so I immediately was inspired by my tattoo of a sparrow holding an olive branch. The tattoo was inspired by the song “His eye is on the sparrow” by Lauryn Hill, interpreted as, God protects the smallest of animals so why would he not protect you. This piece is a symbolic self portrait of my journey through my faith and university and what I feel like I had to give in order gain peace of mind.
