This project is about immigration in England.

We are now living in a globalized world that is more transnational than previous generations, where migration in this country keeps on increasing. Thus the increase leads on to a disparity where facts that are published, creates an uncertain representation of this issue. Therefore, this short tries to undercover the three fractions of the argument (though it is impossible to do so in 10min). The first fraction: those that do not have a vilifying view on migration but understand the complexity of the issue. The depiction could range from those who seek to find work or those that are concerned it is putting a strain on the country.

The first formal approaches used are Found Footage, Appropriation and Collage: The second technique is Video Art. The formal approach is able ‘utilize well-known imagery to deconstruct their original ideological implication. In short, to montage, appropriate and collage products of high art or mass media produce: in order to expose their complicity and implicit message of maintaining the status quo. Moreover, this undoing can make the work ‘become available for the kind of re-production and alternative reception’ (Wees, 2002). ‘This alternative reception’ produces new meanings that can subvert the original footage or create a different perspective that is averse to the primary source.
