For my final major project I looked into the culture clash of New Orleans. Exploring how a surreal and magical world is created through it’s connotations with African tribes and voodoo culture. By juxtaposing tribal masks with expressive faces against the vibrant neon lights, voodoo becomes an enchanting and mythical lifestyle rather than an old practised religion. Through my final collection I have tried to use the process of distorting and dramatizing old traditions, to create the same mythical and eerie feel to my garments and exhibition space.
