I'm not an object
The sexualization of the woman and her objectification continues to be one of the main
problems in Kosovar society. The essentially masculine and patriarchal culture hinders the
honest portrayal of the woman, free from numerous prejudices and discrimination. The
objectification and sexualization of women not only violates human rights and severely
damages their health and wellbeing, but creates unequal and discriminatory societies, where
women are treated in a very inferior way compared to men.
The campaign "I am not an object", through making and distribution of awareness videos,
aims to fight the sexualization and pestering of women, to raise public awareness, and
encourage debates about taking effective measures in solving these issues.
The campaign was conceived by Malda Susuri, and was carried out in close cooperation with
the President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga (2011 - 2016) and ASHA.
The videos in question elaborate on the stories and messages of some of the most influential
women in our society.
By sharing their experiences, how they have felt and continue to feel, and by elaborating on
the impacts of these phenomena, the videos aim to reflect and elaborate more deeply on the
main consequences of objectifying and sexualizing girls and women, not only on the
individual but also the collective aspect.
You can find the videos on our social networks Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
