This project was an exercise in branding. The brief was to take the brand 'Festool', decode it, and develop a radio which fits in with the brand image.
Festool is an expert's powertools company, known for making the best. What I found however, was that whilst the appeal of the brand is very much logical, the appeal of the radio as an object is extremely emotional.
In my final outcome, I attempt to push the brand by creating a radio with certain qualities that create bonds between people and objects. At the same time, I address the issue I identified of 'where does the radio go in a workshop?' by creating a radio which clamps on to any flat surface.
