Immersive Technology in the Third Sector

  • Sophie Jenkins
Virtual reality is a technology that can remove borders. What are the possibilities? How can charities overcome the challenges facing them so they can harness these technologies and incorporate them to their campaigns?
In November, 2016, I produced and delivered an unconference/working lunch discussing what is possible for charity organisations looking to use immersive technologies, and understand what the biggest challenges and concerns are when adapting digital strategies to include new technologies.
I sourced and managed the speakers, including Charlotte Mikkelborg, an experienced producer and director using VR for empathy, as well as project managers from Amnesty International and their “Syria360” project, RSPB and their “In the Eyes of the Animal” project, and The National Autistic Society and their “Too Much Information” project.
