Impulse Magazine

  • Nadia Younes
During my third year of university, I was appointed editor of Impulse Magazine by my classmates, following my pitch for the position, This was part of the Magazine Production module on my course where we had to create our own magazine entirely from scratch and develop our own website and accompanying social media platforms. As editor, it was my job to decide on the style of magazine and approve all content put forward to me by the section editors. My main responsibilities included deciding upon editorial content, commissioning feature ideas for print and online, approving briefs, editing final copy, approving images and generally overseeing and approving all the work that was being done by the print, online and design teams. As well as this, I also wrote two articles for the magazine – a travel feature entitled ’24 Hours in Brooklyn’ and an interview feature with Edinburgh musician LAW, which was accompanied by an online video feature entitled ‘Record Shopping with LAW’, edited by Zoe McArthur – and a film review of ‘Her’ for the website.
