Is the record sleeve still as important in the 21st century? Book design

For my final major project I designed a publication about record sleeves and if they are still as important in the 21st century, my research took elements from my dissertation as well as being fortunate enough to get to interview with a huge inspiration of mine, Aubrey Powell of Hipgnosis on the subject, as well as a vinyl collector. The chapters I cover are the introduction of record sleeves, as well as marketing techniques, how artists have connected in traditional ways and also how artists are now finding new ways to connect with their audiences.

Throughout the publication I tried to keep the square element throughout, making reference towards the sleeve, or to draw attention to certain elements of the spread. I used black and white throughout firstly for the contrast, the black and white represent the two sides of a record sleeve, as well as too add focus and attract attention to the most important part of the designs which is celebrating the artwork.
