A lonely transport officer must handle his feelings for someone he’s never met, after reading their diary that he discovers on a train. J. is my fourth narrative drama and my graduation film from Falmouth University. It was shortlisted at the 2019 RTS Award South West in the Best Drama category and won for Best Editing.

Craig is a janitor in a heritage railway station. His life revolves around the trains, and his only company are the forgotten objects travellers leave behind. Everything from toys, to keys, to books populate Craig’s small world when, one day, a diary finds its way into it. Reluctant at first, Craig decides to read about the life of J., the author of the diary. To his surprise, he starts to grow attached to J., now a constant presence in Craig’s imagination. When he builds up the courage to return the diary, he finds out an unexpected truth about J. and he has to decide if he is willing to love the person he thought he knew.
