Kaleidoscopic spectacle

Imagine watching a kaleidoscope in motion – the beauty and the movement is mesmerising, similar to my chosen director’s films. He could be said to have the ‘Midas touch’. The aim of this project was to reflect this as well as the flamboyancy and magic that he creates within three very different films from three very different eras.

Baz Luhrmann is a director renowned for his flamboyant and fast paced films as well as bringing old classics into the twenty first century. My concept is based around both of these characteristics of Lurhmann’s movies, created by a kaleidoscopic design purely from two combined typefaces – to portray a technically beautiful and majestic pattern. Focusing on three of his ultimate creations – The Great Gatsby (2013), Moulin Rouge! (2001) and Romeo + Juliet (1996).
