A suite of invitations and stationery for a summer-time waterfront wedding.
I recently had the pleasure of designing a suite of wedding collateral for my good friend John Encomienda. This suite included a double-sided formal invitation with map and complementary set of save the date, thank you, wishing well, RSVP and thank you cards.
To start with, I wanted to create a custom identity mark to tie the suite of collateral together. The three elements I chose to incorporate in the logo were the E from the groom's surname, an ampersand and the band of a wedding ring. The resulting identity mark embodies the notion of ever-lasting union and is personalised by a subtle reference to the Encomienda family name.
Gold foiling was used to signal tradition and prosperity but also quietly alludes to the light and warmth of summer while the off-white, textured heavyweight paper brings forward the organic and grounded nature of the couple's 10 year relationship. The combination of these contrasting textures provides a rich, decadent yet delicate tactile quality to the suite.
