Live Project from Nicholas Oakwell

This collection was designed for a live brief set by Nicholas Oakwell Couture. The centenary of World War II lead me to research this historic event, where I discovered the starkly painted battle ships. They were painted in bold, striking patterns as a defensive mechanism; in a similar way a zebras stripes disorientate a predator, these ships patterns could give the appearance of being a different size or traveling in a different direction.

A couture collection demanded the use of high quality materials combined with a skilled use of technical processes. Glass beads are woven together with silk crochet and add trims to shibori dyed silks.
